Friday, June 23

Unmuzzle your inhibitions at the Brewerie's Yappy Hour, which brings man and man's best friend together for 180 minutes of interspecies bonding on the Trackside Patio. That's right, people – although dogs' years are seven times shorter, their happy hours are three times longer. That should be music to everyone's ears, no matter your effective audible frequency range (humans: 31 Hz-19 kHz, dogs: 64 Hz-44 kHz).

In a gesture of nonpartisanship, acoustic guitarist Matthew J. Thompson will operate somewhere in the middle (82 Hz-1.4 kHz). Likewise, the ANNA Shelter will be making a pitch that should equally resonate with attendees – that is to help save lives. An estimated 6.5 million animals nationwide enter shelters annually, according to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Of these, approximately 3.2 million are adopted and 710,000 are returned to their original owners. Unfortunately, 1.5 million of those shelter animals end up being euthanized.

We can't just take that lying down. So stand up, take a walk, or go for a ride to support a great cause. — Matt Swanseger
