Take the Field for SeaWolves Movie Nights

From batter's box to box office smashes

August 7, 2020 at 10:41 AM

Taking yourself out to the ballgame, taking yourself out to the crowd? No go in 2020. However, you will be able to buy yourself some peanuts and Crackerjacks (or hot dogs, popcorn, and candy) at UPMC Park during any one of three SeaWolves Movie Nights this August.

The films to be shown are as follows:

  • Saturday, Aug. 15: How To Train Your Dragon (PG, 2010)
  • Saturday, Aug. 22: A League of Their Own (PG, 1992)
  • Saturday, Aug. 29: Jurassic Park (PG-13, 1993)

Gates will open at 7 p.m. each movie night, and the film will start to roll on the SeaWolves' newly installed high-definition video board at 8 p.m. Attendees must wear masks in common areas such as restrooms and concession lines, and they must space themselves at least six feet apart. The 'Wolves strongly encourage you to park your keesters in the playing field for a more genuine drive-in experience, and will sell team-branded blankets (and masks) to help nudge you toward that if you do not have your own. Tents, rolling carts, bug spray, and outside food or beverages are prohibited on the field.

Ticket sales are limited to just 225 due to state guidelines for public gatherings, so you're advised to get a lead on this pitch. Tickets will only be offered through SeaWolves.com, but if there are any leftovers, they will be available for purchase at the gate.

To assume you can procrastinate and still luck out, though, would be totally off-base.

7 p.m. (gates), 8 p.m. (showtime) // 110 E. 10th St. // Tickets $5 (plus $1.50 online processing fee) // seawolves.com
