"Terms of Endearment," a play based on the Oscar-winning screenplay by James L. Brooks and the Pulitzer Prize-winning book by Larry McMurtry, is coming to the LECOM Stage for select dates in November. The relationship between Aurora and Emma, mother and daughter, played by real-life mother and daughter Sue Lechner and Kate Neubert-Lechner, is complicated. Though they talk each and every day, Emma is often exasperated by her highly-opinionated mother. We follow them as they navigate through the years and the changes and challenges they face—Emma's arduous marriage to "Flap" (Giovanni Ciminella), Aurora's hesitation at embracing becoming a grandmother, as well as a tentative new relationship with Garrett (Joe Greulich), the retired astronaut next door. Their relationship is further tested when Emma needs her mother's support the most, finding courage in unexpected places. The cast is rounded out with Jennifer Maloney playing the parts of Patsy, Doris, and the nurse, and Victor Kuehn featured as Dr. Maise. This small but talented cast is directed by Charles Corritore, assisted by Eleanor Logan, with an effective but minimal set by Christine Daugherty, lighting design by Joe Hassler, and costume designs spanning decades by Ryan Ingram.
