Hippoh Mobile's #WeekOfPizza bracket down to its Flavor 4

We can argue all night whether pizza is better leftover than freshly delivered. As the debate would rage on, that pizza would effectively become leftovers, and it might just prove a point.

But perhaps we can all virtually meet in the middle at the tiny plastic bargaining table and agree which leftover pizza is the best — in Hippoh Mobile's #WeekOfPizza bracket that is. In a follow-up to the hotly contested #WeekOfWings (which found Odis12 lifting the trophy as others licked their wounds/fingers), the developers of the local bar-hopping app have pitted 16 of Erie's most popular pies against one another to determine exactly who is in the upper crust.

Tonight's Flavor 4 may not decide whether or not pineapple belongs on pizza, but it will decide who gets to compete in Saturday's finals.

We lost some GREAT local pizza places in the Cheesy 8 but today begins voting on the Flavor 4 at 12:30 pm. Remember...

Breaking Down the Flavor 4

Yum Yum's Pizza vs. Virgil's Plate

Yum Yum's drives hard toward the rim with a hand-tossed crust and crisply passes flavor onto your tastebuds with a beautiful pepperoni char that curls around your defenses. However, Virgil's Plate zone game is the best in town, with customizable squares that each member of your household can step up to and absolutely own. This will be a fun one.

Stevo's Pizza vs. Porky's Pizzeria

From downtown! These two parlors have proven capable of sinking hunger buzzer-beaters to Gannon students and Erie's downtown businesses time and time again, but which is more clutch?! Cheese will bubble, tongues will roll as this contest is apt to come down to the last possession. We like the variety in Stevo's repertoire, but Porky's consistent execution must be respected.

Flavor 4 polls are open until noon tomorrow. By that time you'll probably have decided what you want for lunch — may we suggest a slice from one of this year's potential #WeekOfPizza champions? For their numbers, websites, and addresses, check out our Erie Takeout and Delivery Guide.

Matt Swanseger (mswanseger@eriereader.com) believes there's a time and place for everything, even pineapple on pizza — though he'd much prefer the spicy-savory trinity of bacon, onion, and jalapeno (and none of your sass).
