Eerie Horror Fest and Erie Playhouse Join Spooky Forces for Fundraiser
Catch House on Haunted Hill on the big screen
SATURDAY, OCT. 10
You might have heard the exciting news: The Eerie Horror Fest (EHF) is officially an independent nonprofit as of August. Now the less joyful news: to give themselves some time and space to regroup, the Horror Fest event won't be taking its traditional place this year, but instead plans to return better than ever in 2027. In lieu of a full-scale film festival, EHF is teaming up with the Erie Playhouse to host a spooktacular fundraiser, featuring a screening of the Vincent Price classic, 1959's House on Haunted Hill.
Of course, the EHF will do the most, including its own brand of Emergo – a set of in-theater devices that complement and enhance the movie-viewing experience – which was used for the original release of House on Haunted Hill (the OG version featured flying skeletons). This is where, aside from hosting the whole shindig, the Playhouse's expertise comes into relief, as the theater company will revive some classic Emergo techniques and create purpose-made ones, too.
Guests will want to arrive an hour before the screening, as both organizations will host a pre-show social hour, complete with local food trucks (like BBS Burger, Brats, and Sausages and SweetErie Ice Cream and Candy Mobile), fun cocktails, and spooky-themed snacks and fun. And because the EHF and Playhouse believe art is for everyone, ticket prices are offered on a sliding scale, starting at $20, then $30 (the suggested ticket price), and topping out at $40, for the most generous guests; all ticket proceeds go directly back to EHF.
Pre-show social hour: 6 p.m.; Film screening: 7 p.m. // Erie Playhouse, 13 W. 10th St. // Tickets: $20, $30, or $40 // For tickets and info: erieplayhouse.org
