Erie's General Election Results
Democrats take several positions following last night's election
Erie's democratic candidates prevailed during last night's general election. In a historic upset, Christina Vogel won the County Executive race over incumbent County Executive Brenton Davis by 18,848 votes. "Last night, Erie County chose a new path forward," said Vogel. "I am honored and deeply grateful for the trust voters placed in me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every volunteer, supporter, and voter who believed in our campaign. Together, we have a shared vision for the future of Erie County — one focused on fiscal responsibility, people, and partnerships."
In the mayoral race, Democratic candidate Daria Devlin won in a landslide victory against Republican candidate Matthew Thomas. "Tonight we have reminded ourselves and each other that, here in Erie, we know who we are; we know the kind of city we deserve; and we believe in an Erie that can be better for all of us," Devlin said following her victory. "This isn't just the end of a campaign — it's the beginning of the real work ahead. The kind of work that lasting progress demands. I know it won't be easy. Change never is. But together, we will meet the challenges before us with patience, courage, compassion and collaboration. We'll have hard conversations, even when we don't all agree, because that's what true community looks like."
In County Council, Democrat Jim Wertz will assume Andre Horton's District 2 seat, while Horton was elected in a City Council seat. Current City Council members Jasmine Flores and Maurice "Mo" Troop were reelected.
Judges were retained for another term, including Democrats Michael Wojcik in the Commonwealth Court and Alice Beck Dubow in the Superior Court.
