The Harmony and Blessings music series is bringing some stellar jazz acts to Erie in the coming months. Expect a unique performance from Sons of Fortune, featuring bassist and composer Dwayne Dolphin (pictured), followed up by the Stew Cutler Organ Trio later in the month.

BEGINNING SATURDAY, SEPT. 12

Stephen Trohoske, a talented musician in his own right, is always working hard to bring us the best live music here in Erie. The Harmony and Blessings Concert Series continues to be the outlet for that goal. This month there are two great shows lined up to bring you some of the best jazz you can find anywhere in the tri-state area.

First, on Saturday, Sept. 12, head on over to City Gallery for Sons of Fortune, featuring bassist and composer Dwayne Dolphin on piccolo bass (a standard bass strung with thin-gauge strings and tuned one full octave higher than standard tuning). Dolphin will be joined by local favorites  Eric Brewer on guitar, Reggie Evans on drums, Preach Freedom on percussion, and Trohoske on bass guitar. Dolphin is an internationally renowned musician who has played with jazz greats including Stanley Turrentine, Fred Wesley, Wynton Marsalis, and Nathan Davis, among others.

Later in the month, on Sunday, Sept. 27, you can catch the Stew Cutler Organ Trio at Altered State Distillery, brought to you by both Trohoske and distillery co-owner Heather Maus. Blues guitarist and composer Cutler is back with his trio to promote their seventh studio album The Blues From Another Angle. A blues veteran, Cutler has worked with a who's who of amazing names over his decades-long career, including ZZ Hill, Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, Fontella Bass, Earl King, Jimmy Castor, David Sanborn, Bill Frisell, Meat Loaf, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Sweet Georgia Brown, and more.

These are two perfect opportunities to wrap up summer with a lovely night out experiencing some world class musicianship. Both venues are intimate and inviting places where you're sure to see some familiar faces. Trohoske himself says it best, "Thank you for your continued support and for helping us to keep raising the bar for arts and culture in our town."
