Walk through the bustling artisan market of the Hill District on a Sunday afternoon to explore food trucks, fashion, music, and more. The Shops on the Hill open their neighborhood for the summer with local interests in all art forms.

"The goal is to have a community event that not only supports shopping local, but provides a space for inclusivity, diversity, equality" President of the Hill District Gisele Littrell said. "That's the driving initiative for our neighborhood."

On the last Sunday of each month of summer, Shops on the Hill (located on Peach Street, from 26th Street to 24th Street) are happy to host the Hill District Artisan Flea collaborative from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event features local vendors and highlights the Shops on the Hill, creating a space for creativity and exploration. Attendees can explore vendors that range from fashion to food, music, art, and more.

COVID may have changed many things, but with lifting protocols the Hill District is happy to close off their street once again to allow more vendors open to the public at an unlimited capacity. Participants can choose to wear a mask or ask vendors to wear a mask, but it is not necessary.

"It really is about everybody's comfort level and making everyone safe," Littrell elaborated. "The entire atmosphere was really accepting about getting back to some type of normalcy for celebrating our area, building our community back up."

Vendors will be on display in the street and there will be an eating section in the Garden Spot behind the Tipsy Bean building where guests can enjoy live music. The only difference with this year's flea is that the venue will only close one block to utilize the Tipsy Bean parking lot.

The Hill District Flea is excited to open up and continues to look for volunteers for the event who are passionate about the Hill's cause. Those interested in volunteering for the event in the near future can message them at shopsonthehill.org.
