Keeping the Lights On

Lantern Fest at the Lake Erie Speedway promises to turn a few heads upward

Saturday, Aug. 25

Before assuming that the floating, yellow lights filling the sky are fictionally-large fireflies, check what direction you're looking on Aug. 25. You might be witnessing The Lantern Fest taking place at Lake Erie Speedway in North East.

With the public generating a buzz over the event already, in actuality, it would be pretty hard for the average imagination to confuse the surplus of lights for something other than hundreds of lanterns being released.

Before nightfall, attendees can enjoy food which can be purchased inside the event, live music, face painting, balloon artists and more. When the sun sets, lanterns will be let go.

To ensure that your lantern isn't late to take off, attendees are advised to arrive early for parking and picking out the perfect place to set up their blankets and chairs to enjoy the show.

For those who have not yet bought tickets to the event, they are $60 per person. This includes a lantern, marker and s'mores kit. One box of matches will be given per party. — Hannah McDonald
