Oddity Productions Present House of Eden
Local film proves to be an intriguing concept
Writer/director Danny Pakulski held a spirited premiere for his film House of Eden at 1020 Collective on August 9th and though the film is not yet complete, audience reaction was encouraging.
Released as a proof of concept, Pakulski and production company Oddity Productions hope that the footage will turn into an eventual feature film in the future. The short film that they have so far has hooked audiences with an engaging plot, an interesting cast of quirky characters, and a killer soundtrack to top it all off.
Set in 1973, the film follows young Sammy (Howard Long) during a raucous party at the fraternity for which he is pledging. We follow Sammy and other characters as their stories intersect during this night of debauchery, but there is something sinister just under the surface of this house. As the night goes on, seven young people find themselves connected to a world of crime, corruption, and even the occult.
While it is only essentially the first twenty minutes of a film, Pakulski does a good job introducing us to all the characters and the story is mysterious enough to keep viewers wanting more. It's a great start to what will surely be a scary and entertaining eventual feature.
