In downtown Erie, over one hundred residents of Erie County have planned to come together, answering a national call to revive Dr. Martin Luther King's Poor People Campaign. The event will begin on Thursday, June 14 at 11:30 a.m., with the march departing from 312 Chestnut Street at this time and concluding with a rally at noon in Perry Square.

Erie has been cited as the most unequal city for black Americans by USA Today and 16501 stands as the state's most impoverished zip code. The goal of inciting the campaign's renaissance is to challenge structures of systemic poverty and racism in America.

All community members are welcome to join Erie County United, Benedictines for Peace, Benedictine Sisters, Erie CPR, NAACP Erie, One Pennsylvania and NextGen American for the event.
