St. Patrick's Day Events Canceled

2020 St. Patrick's Day in Erie

The 43rd Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will make its way from the corner of 11th and State down to St. Patrick's Church at 130 E. Fourth St. on Saturday, Mar. 14 starting at 2 p.m.

NOTE: AS PER THE STATEWIDE CLOSURE OF ALL NON-ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES, ALL EVENTS FOR TUESDAY, MARCH 17 ARE CANCELENED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.

"Slàinte" will be heard down State Street as the annual St. Patrick's Day parade marches across town. The annual event — traditionally hosted by the Knights and Ladies of St. Patrick and the Erie Zoo — ignites a weekend of festivities that Erieites (of Irish ancestry and otherwise) anticipate all year.

And as always, Erie has something going on for everyone to enjoy.

The less family-friendly festivities are being observed on Saturday — the day of the parade — giving revelers an early jump on the holiday's Mar. 17 date.

Whether your idea of a good time is wearing all your favorite green clothing and spending the afternoon with family, or celebrating Irish heritage with a pint in hand, Erie's many pubs and eateries are prepared to accommodate you (some may even give you a ride to your next stop).

Here's a sampling of some of the most spectacular events going on across the city to celebrate St. Patrick's Day 2020. — Hannah McDonald

Saturday, Mar. 14

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Erie's annual parade sees local organizations and groups come together to celebrate their Irish heritage. Hosted by the Erie Zoo and the Knights and Ladies of St. Patrick, this festive cornerstone is a great activity for families, or partiers looking for a reason to deck themselves out in their best green garb.

2 p.m. // Beginning at State & 11th Street // All Ages // eriezoo.org

Molly Brannigans's

Enjoy live music from a talented lineup all day (The Division Street Machine, Almost Seamus, and The Rooftop Project Band) and drinks until midnight at the place voted Erie's Best Irish Pub two years in a row. Molly's has become the hub for all things Irish since opening under new management a year-and-a-half ago. The pub will also hold events on Sunday (featuring neo-Celtic rockers The Bangerzz) and Tuesday (with The Division Street Machine back again).

Saturday 10 a.m. to midnight, Sunday noon to 3 p.m., Tuesday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. // 506 State St. // All ages until 9 p.m.; Then, 21+ // mollybrannigans.com

Peek'n Peak

The Clymer, N.Y. resort will feature a special Irish menu, with whiskey tastings at Bistro 210, where the Emerald Isle Irish Band will play at 8 p.m. Join in on a scavenger hunt starting at 10 a.m., catch Leprechaun appearances from 1 to 4 p.m., kids games and much more, including a bangers and mash party at 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Saturday 9 a.m., with events going until 4 p.m. Sunday // 1405 Olde Rd, Clymer, N.Y. // For full event info, go to pknpk.com/event/st-patricks-day-weekend

BIGBAR

Last year, nearly 5,000 Erieites came out for this event. This year, The Groove — an Erie-based funk collective — and local DJs will keep the party going all day (and night). Enjoy the party bus shuttling guests from BIGBAR to Resolution Nightclub & Coconut Joe's at North Park Row on both Saturday and Tuesday, with a free breakfast buffet at Resolution on Tuesday.

Noon to 2 a.m. // 14 E. 10th St. // 21+ // bigbar.net

Lavery Brewing Co.

Looking for somewhere to go on parade day or St. Patrick's Day proper? Check out Lavery's. The brewery will be celebrating all things Irish all day long, with music by The Mulligans from 8 to 11 p.m. on Saturday and 2 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight, Tuesday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. // 128 W. 12th St. // 21+ // laverybrewing.com
