Wednesday, July 25

The Northwestern Pennsylvania Artists Association is looking for people who want to support the local arts community.

By attending the NPAA's 19th annual Francis T. Schanz Scholarship Exhibition and Art Lottery at the Bayfront Convention Center, guests can have peace of mind knowing that they've supported local artists, even if they don't go home with a piece of artwork.

The event will recognize Olivia English, Quincy Balogna and Grace Brown. Each will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the NPAA to pursue a future in art. The NPAA will also present a lifetime achievement award to NPAA artist Wilda Sundberg.

An art lottery will provide a chance to win original artwork created by its members. Other artwork will be for sale, too.

Furthermore, the evening features a cash bar, appetizers, dancing and live music by Stephen Trohoske and the Art Groupies, Mckenzie Sprague and Jess Royer.

One ticket admits two people to the event. It also includes one limited edition print of Schanz by featured artist Kris Risto. — Tracy Geibel
