Peek'n Peak Fall Fest Offers Two Full Autumnal Weekends

Fall into seasonal spirits in Clymer, NY

Saturday, Oct. 12

Set in the foothills of Clymer, New York — colorful with changing fall leaves — Peek'n Peak Resort hosts their 32nd Annual Fall Festival during two weekends in October. Craft vendors, live music, art displays, and a car show attract crowds of attendees with various interests from the surrounding areas in New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

The local resort will have activities and events running all day. The Bonfires & Brews concert series at the resort's Gazebo Grill continues, with live music mixing in the air with the smell of kettle corn, fried dough, and grilled burgers from 4 to 8 p.m. on the consecutive Saturdays of the event. This free concert series will feature the Erie rock quintet Six Year Stretch (Oct. 12) and the Jimmy Buffett-channeling Key West Express (Oct. 19), who have been serenading Erie with tropical jams for over two decades. Music from 2 for the Show (Oct. 12), the Small Town Rollers (Oct. 13), Doug Phillips and Amanda Barton (Oct. 19), and Katie & Jesse (Oct. 20) will run from noon to four at the Main Lodge.

A kid zone — which in the past has had bungee jumping, petting zoos, face painting and more — will run all day throughout both weekends. A classic Chevrolet car show will take up the beginner hill of the resort during the first Sunday of the event, and an exotic show will take place on the second weekend.

Even just the drive out to Peek'n Peak during this time of year can be spectacular — riding along country roads through fields of warming colors and red, yellow, and orange trees — but it doesn't come close to the view of the rolling hills in their fall dressings as seen from the top of the chairlift. Visitors can ride the lift, or take a carriage ride amongst the trees to enjoy such views throughout the festival's duration.

The annual ski and snowboard equipment sale will also be happening throughout the festival. Organizers from the local snowsports community invite new and old snowsports enthusiasts to donate their equipment for consignment sale or stop by to pick up a new set of gear for the upcoming season (for more information on this extension of the Fall Fest, call Kathy Caflish at 716-355-4232). A ski and snowboard rail jam will take place at the Sugar Shack on Oct. 12 and 20. — Hannah McDonald
