The Cold Harshness of Missing Today is the Day

Monday is the day that some Erie rockers have long awaited. Noise and experiential metal icons Today Is The Day will return to the city on the bay to play at Sherlock's.

Today Is The Day blends genres. From noise rock, metal and hardcore punk to avant-garde musical elements, the three piece band has created a groundbreaking sound that's uniquely hard and psychedelic in it's own way. Playing together since the early 90's, Today Is The Day has been using sampling and electronics to help cultivate their sound. The band's lyrical content and imagery pulls together intellectual takes on themes such as the occult, consciousness-expanding experiences, and existentialism.

Taking the stage with the band is Save Yourself and Erie's new, doom band, Fog Giant, who have been hitting the scene with thunderous rips since their inception.

Save Yourself is fresh from the recording studio after dropping a self-titled, four track EP late last month. Members of the metal band have played in Shockwave, Smoke & Mirrors, Glaucon and more.

Tickets for the event can be purchased presale for $10 at Ink Assassins on Peach Street or Nolan's School of Music on Buffalo Road. The day of the show, tickets are $12. Doors for the event open at 6 P.M. and music is set to run all night. – Hannah McDonald
