The Floozies: Getting Electric at the King's Rook Club
FRIDAY, JUNE 5
The futuristic electrofunk powerhouse The Floozies are grooving into the Kings Rook Club on one of the funkiest tours to hit the Rook this year. The Floozies were formed by brothers Matt and Mark Hill from Lawrence, Kansas. Combining their love of jazz fusion with a modern funk groove, they have carved out their own unique place in the festival circuit. The Floozies have appeared at Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, High Sierra, Summercamp, Wakarusa, Camp Bisco, Summerset, Bumbershoot, and headlining Red Rocks shows. Along with this impressive resume they have performed sold-out shows across the country while hosting an annual hometown fest called the Funk Street Festival.
According to reviews of their live performances, the brothers are noted for sharing an electric energy on stage that combines Matt's guitar with Mark's kick to create a universal energy that is absorbed by the crowd through looping and production that builds the energy. Opening the set will be Bray Radbury (who is also the drummer for the Floozies) who creates his own beats and grooves that will get attendees pumped for the main act. Starting the show will be local DJ and music producer VOTO, who has made a name for himself by sharing the stage with DJs at festivals in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida. When the lights come on downstairs it's time to head upstairs for the afterparty with Erie's favorite Phunkademic, who are known for bringing down the house every time. Start the summer off right and get in the groove at the King's Rook.
Doors open at 8 p.m., music starts at 9 p.m. // Kings Rook Club, 1921 Peach St. // $28 // For tickets and info: tickets.eriereader.com
