Upon A Burning Body Are Bringing the Rain

The Texas band has shifted over time, evolving from straightforward metalcore to something more nuanced and diverse

The Entertainment Collective is bringing another monster metal showcase to Erie, with Upon A Burning Body headlining over regional metal bands.

Forming in San Antonio, Texas in 2005, Upon A Burning Body have made their mark in the world of metal, with each of their four albums reaching various U.S. music charts, most notably their second album, Red. White. Green., which climbed to the No.1 spot on the U.S. Heatseekers chart. Upon A Burning Body's sound has shifted over time, evolving from straightforward metalcore to something more nuanced and diverse. They've added elements of Southern metal and nu-metal in recent albums, and their latest album, Straight from the Barrio, incorporates breaks of classical Latin music into even the heaviest songs.

Opening bands for the night include the self-described "punch you in the face metal" of Pittsburgh's Shrouded in Neglect, Rochester, N.Y. post-hardcore band Reformer, and fellow Pennsylvanian metal bands A Moment in Pompeii and Design the Void, from Beaver Falls and Kane, respectively.

With a big name metal band coming to town, and support from great bands from our region, this show is an excellent opportunity to support the scene. Come bang your head with the best of them. — Tommy Shannon
