Minerva: Homecoming to Erie County Public Library

Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM

Join staff from the Erie County Public Library as we explore one of the most intriguing local mysteries: the disappearance of Minerva. What was once the symbol of downtown Erie's original library, the Minerva statue disappeared from her public post for decades, only to unexpectedly resurface this summer. Our staff will both recount the tale of her history and explore the goddess's mythology and purview while outlining the forthcoming programs dedicated to this statue. A pre-lecture exploratory reception will allow participants to connect our historic statue with the latest technology, pairing ECPL's pioneering future with its rich history. – Courtney Baran, MPA; Rachel Stevenson, MA, MS
