"On the Waterfront": Evolution of an Essay Series

Lecture with JES Scholar-in-Residence David Frew, Ph.D. Admission: $10/person or $15 with a guest, Erie County students are FREE Where were you when Kennedy was assassinated, or the first man walked on the moon, or the 9-11 tragedy occurred? How did those events make you feel? How did you respond? These were the essential questions that haunted David Frew's generation until a few years ago. But now a there is a fourth: COVID. To counter the impact of Covid, Jefferson Scholar-in-Residence David Frew turned toward writing. He created the popular weekly series, "On the Waterfront" about life on the Bayfront in the 1950s. Join the author to learn about the research on storytelling, readers' responses, idea generating, and gain insight into essay writing process.
