Michelangelo: Man, Myth & Majesty – A Tribute To The Florentine Genius

This lavishly illustrated presentation will examine the mastery of painting, sculpture and architecture exhibited by the Italian Renaissance artist, Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1565). JES Scholar-in-Residence Dr. Michael DeSanctis will emphasize Michelangelo's ties to the city of Florence, Italy, where he was born, and suggest how a "sculptural temperament" came to be embodied in all his works, regardless of medium. Participants will be encouraged to share their own perceptions and questions stemming from the master's life at the end of the presentation.
