A year ago, Seth Trott, J.D. introduced the Presque Isle Neighborhood Network (PINN), a community-driven nonprofit to revitalize the neighborhoods around Presque Isle State Park. Today, PINN is a budding enterprise backed by extensive community outreach and input, partnerships, popular events, and a financial plan geared toward steering capital into PINN's footprint. This talk is about the part nobody sees: how you actually build one of these organizations. Seth will walk through PINN's first year and the blueprint underneath it – a strong board, someone willing to carry the work, and the right partner. Every neighborhood organization will be different, but the way you get one off the ground doesn't have to be.
