Celebrate Library Card Sign-Up month and make a personalized Lanyard for your library card!
A Library card is key to all sorts of fun! Swing by the Idea Lab and make a personalized lanyard holder for your Library Card! Everyone who comes will get their own lanyard and card holder. Customize your lanyard with some small buttons you design and make or create a wooden charm pin made on our glow forge laser cutter. To decorate your card holder, make a small card to go in the holder with your library card. Reading isn't hard when you've got a library card, especially in your own unique Lanyard!
September is National Library Card Sign Up month, a yearly event put on by the American Library Association. This event encourages people to sign up for a library card to take advantage of all the resources of your local library! For Erie County residents signing up for a library card is easy and takes less than 10 minutes! All you need to do is stop into one of our Library branches with proof of address. Kids can sign up for a library card too! Kids under 15 will need a guardian to sign for their card but Kids age 15 and up do not need a guardian signature.
Free. Registration not Required. Ages 8 to adult. The class will take place in the Idea Lab's makerspace. Children under 15 must be supervised by a guardian. If you think that you will need extra assistance to complete this project, please bring a support person to help you with this class.
