Need help kick starting your book club? Swing by the idea lab and make your own deck of Book Club Cards to help choose books and conversation topics!
Book clubs are a fun way to use your library card with friends but sometimes it can be hard to choose what you want to read or talk about. To make it easier, come to the Idea Lab and create your own Book Club Deck of Cards! Inspired by our "In the Cards" Book Club hosted by Librarian Rachel Stevenson customize a set of cards with different topics for your book club. We will have customizable playing cards that you will be able to write and draw on. We will also have lists to help you choose ideas for your cards including genres, conversation questions, and award winners
Did you know the library has book club kits that you can check out with your library card? These "Book Clubs in a Bag" can be checked out at the front circulation desk for a period of 60 days. Each bag includes ten copies of a title, a list of discussion questions, a biographical sketch of the author, and a book sign-up sheet to help the leader stay organized. We have popular titles including Born a Crime by Trevor Noah, Bookshop on the Corner by Jenny Colgan, Dune by Frank Herbert, and many more!
Free. Registration not required, just drop in! Ages 13 to adult. The class will take place in the Idea Lab's Maker Space. Children under 15 must be supervised by a guardian. If you think that you will need extra assistance to complete this project, please bring a support person to help you with this class.
