Who We Have Become: Artist Talk With Let’s Get Free & Antonio Howard

Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 5 PM to 7 PM

Join Erie Arts & Culture on Saturday, September 19, from 5:00–7:00 PM for a special evening centered around Who We Have Become, an exhibition featuring work from the permanent art collection of Pittsburgh-based organization Let’s Get Free.

Created by people in prison alongside artists on the outside who stand in solidarity with ending mass incarceration, Who We Have Become brings together drawings, paintings, prints, cross-stitch, banners, poetry, and more. The works share personal stories, reflect on conditions of confinement, offer social critique, and express hopes and aspirations for the future.

At 6:00 PM, join representatives from Let’s Get Free and artist Antonio Howard for a conversation exploring the exhibition, the stories behind the work, and the role art can play in expression, connection, and imagining new possibilities.

Let’s Get Free has spent more than a decade collaborating with artists in prison, with its permanent collection growing through annual art shows and exhibitions, including the 2020 End Death By Incarceration exhibition. The Pittsburgh-based organization works to end perpetual punishment and create pathways out of prisons and back into communities through advocacy, support, art, and transformative justice.

Come experience the exhibition, hear directly from those connected to the work, and take part in an evening of art, storytelling, and conversation.

Free and open to all.
