Walls of Love Marks 8 Years: 100 Walls Going Up Across 36 States and the District of Columbia in One Day — Including One in Erie, PA
ERIE, Pa. — On Saturday, November 7, 2026, Walls of Love will celebrate its 8-year anniversary by putting up 100 Walls of Love across 36 states and the District of Columbia in a single day. Erie is one of those cities: local volunteers will hang one wall at 11th and Holland, starting at 11:00 a.m.
A Wall of Love is simple. New winter essentials and hygiene items — hats, gloves, socks, toiletries, and more — are sealed in bags and hung on a fence where anyone who needs them can take them: free, no questions asked, no paperwork. Walls of Love serves people in a time of need, including domestic violence and sexual assault survivors, homeless veterans, and inner-city youth.
Walls of Love has walls across Pennsylvania, and Erie's wall joins the nationwide anniversary build. Local volunteers will hang the bags on November 7, and a volunteer will return within 24 hours to leave the site clean.
"The hardest part has been getting enough monetary support to be able to put things out into the community. Because the need keeps growing and growing. And there's just not enough funding for us," said Holly Jackson, founder of Walls of Love.
Since 2018, the all-volunteer organization has aided more than 1,000,000 people, reached more than 3,600 communities, and educated and involved more than 7,500 children — and it holds a Guinness World Record for donating 17,715 pairs of socks in a single hour. One hundred percent of what Walls of Love receives goes back out into the community.
