OPENING MONDAY, APR. 25

For over 25 years, the Jay and Mona Kang Art Show and Sale has been a portrait of creativity and generosity, helping the Barber National Institute change the landscape for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The movement continues in 2022 with the third consecutive virtual edition of the event, featuring nearly 300 works by adult and youth artists throughout the region. The pieces will be available for purchase between Monday, April 25 and Friday, May 6 and include paintings, photographs, computer renderings/graphics, sculptures, and ceramics based on the theme of "Celebrating the Possibilities." At least 25 percent of each sale will benefit the Barber National Institute.

Each item in the online exhibition will be viewable from multiple angles to better emulate the experience of perusing a gallery, and will be tagged with its dimensions, component media, title, and artist. As on any other ecommerce website, shoppers will add items to their virtual cart and proceed to a secure checkout. Artwork will be available for pick-up from the Barber National Institute between May 12 and 14 (Thursday through Saturday after the show closes). Out-of-towners can arrange to have their purchases mailed.

Monetary awards for the Best of Show (one $300 award) and Honorable Mentions (up to three $100 awards) will go to the most exemplary artists and photographers in both the adult and youth categories. Additionally, the public will be able to vote for two People's Choice Awards ($100 each), one for artwork and one for photography. Awards will be announced at an in-person ceremony the evening of Wednesday, April 27 at 5 p.m. sponsored by UPMC Hamot, UPMC Health Plan, and the Hamot Health Foundation at the Barber National Institute Main Campus.

However your artistic tastes are oriented, you should be able to find something you like from the broad palette of creators listed below.
