Erie’s Brooke Surgener (40 Under 40 Class of 2014) is celebrating her birthday while simultaneously celebrating the release of her latest EP entitled All In at the King’s Rook Club this month.

Friday, Jul. 17

Brooke Surgener has some plans this month and she'd like you to join her in celebrating her new EP and birthday in a big way at the Kings Rook Club. Surgener (Erie's 40 Under 40 Class of 2014) says she was inspired to call the EP All In based on a line in one of her favorite tracks, "Houston." "These songs are a testament to betting on myself, going all in on my career and personal relationships, and refusing to give up regardless of the outcome."

She began writing and releasing the songs for this EP as singles after her 2022 full-length album Moon Waves was released. There will be vinyl and cassette copies of All In available for purchase at the release party, featuring previously released and unreleased tracks plus some surprise bonus audio.

Also on hand for the festivities on July 17 will be Surgener's full band, The Bandits. "I want the night to be a big party! Yes, it's my birthday, so I want to have fun but I also want to take the opportunity to feel like a mini concert," explains Surgener. The Bandits feature Noah Minarik on guitar, Mikey O'Toole on bass, Andy Stambaugh on guitar and vocals, and Jon Robbins on drums. The night will open with Rachel Sanders and Andre Costello.

"My hope for the night is that people experience something meaningful," adds Surgener. She says she plans to decorate the stage and add the kind of ambiance that often inspires her.

It's been a momentous year for Brooke and The Bandits so far. The band started 2026 by opening for The Wallflowers in Pittsburgh and will be playing 8 Great Tuesdays on Aug. 18 with some other local faves, First to Eleven.

"If I could dream big on this birthday, my wish is that this record reaches new fans and that the good vibes of the night carry on to the rest of the year so I can continue sharing music and meeting new people," explains the birthday gal. "But, I also wouldn't mind a (Nintendo) Switch 2 so I can play Ocarina of Time when the new (Legend of) Zelda releases." –  Edwina Capozziello
