BT Moshing For Tots

Local metal bands perform for a good cause this holiday season

Slaughter in the Meridian

Saturday, Dec. 7

It's that time of year again, where the Santa slays in the pit and the reindeer reign in blood, and the headbangers of Erie get together for a good cause at Basement Transmissions' fifth annual Mosh for Tots.

"I try to give back to the community all year, but this event in particular is the show that makes me happiest because it's all about helping kids," says BT owner Bob Jensen. "It is the one holiday that truly brings delight to children, and I just can't stand to think of any youngster not experiencing that joy. The Erie musicians involved all seem to feel the same way and that's why we all donate our time and energy to this event".

The bill is filled to the brim with local metal bands, both newcomers and scene veterans, with two stages for a non-stop barrage of brutal tunes from Slaughter in the Meridian, Perdition, Gelatin Skeleton, Joe Nameless, Obelus, Brotherhood of the Jam, Sudden Frost, DredNeks, Sacred Decay, Less Than Expected, WTS, and Maroon River.

According to event organizer Kenny Sutton, Voodoo Brewery will be pouring at the venue for showgoers over the age of 21, and potential details on a food vendor are still being worked out. Sutton also states that Guitar Center will have a donation box in their store for the event.

Admission is only $5, or free with the donation of a new, unopened toy. So get ready to throw up the "antlers" and mosh for a good cause. — Tommy Shannon
