COVID-19 Case Numbers Dip Slightly

One local death reported by Erie County Dept. of Health this week

The PA Health Department has the total number of COVID-19 deaths at 771, while the Erie County Department of Health lists a total of 799 deaths, with one reported this week. 

The number of cumulative cases in Erie County is now 59,694, according to the PA Department of Health, where Erie County is now currently in the category of "high risk." 

In the last week, there have been 697 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 779 cases reported last week, and 471 the week prior. 

Over the last seven days, there has been an average of nearly 100 cases per day (a decrease of 11 per day compared to last week). 

These totals, however, are only a fraction of the cases compared to January of this year.

These numbers do not include individuals who have tested positive via at-home testing kits, and only reflects the numbers of officially reported cases. 

There are currently 34 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Erie County, with one patient currently requiring the use of a ventilator.

As of now, there are 158,054 Erie County residents who have been fully vaccinated (up 854 from last week), with 23,800 having received their first dose (down 196), and 79,298 who have received a booster shot (up 987).

State, Local, and National Statistics

Pennsylvania now has 2,907,324 cases of COVID-19, for a weekly increase of 29,664 and 27,997 last week. 

So far, there have been 45,147 deaths statewide.

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 83,278,995 cases. There have been 126,086 new cases in the last 24 hours, and 731,366 cases in the last 7 days.

The total number of deaths in the US is 999,785, with 208 in the last 24 hours, and 2,317 in the last week.

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 20,465 positive cases (up 184 since last week), with 322 deaths (two additional deaths reported this week). 

McKean County has 8,435 total positive cases (up 64) and 142 deaths (one additional death reported this week). 

Venango County has 11,595 total positive cases (up 102) and 246 deaths (four additional deaths reported this week). 

Warren County has 7,704 total positive cases (up 97), and 212 deaths (no change this week). 

In each county above, including Erie, the new cases reported for the week were fewer than the previous week.
