Friday, July 27 - 29

As the headline implies, Erie is a city rooted in traditions — one of which happens to be Discover Presque Isle Days (often colloquially referred to without the "days"), a custom that's 26 years old and celebrates our ever-popular Presque Isle State Park every last full weekend of July. Recently voted "Best Freshwater Beach in America 2016" by USA Today, Discover Presque Isle Days boasts an impressive array of activities sure to engage Erie natives and out-of-state tourists alike.

While a full schedule will be available on Discover Presque Isle's website, highlighted events of the three-day weekend include a giant bonfire, live music at the Z102.3 Rock Stage, sailing demos, a sand sculpture competition, a movie at the beach, kayak, canoe, and boat rentals, scenic boat tours, and the Show & Shine Car Show as well. Also featured will be paddleboat demos, a Eurobungy, an inflatable obstacle course, kids craft tents, and over 100 local food and craft vendors offering a variety of homemade candles, candies, dips, clothing, jewelry, and more. Admission to Discover Presque Isle Days is free, alongside acres of parking, ADA reserved spaces, and EMTA shuttles leaving beaches 8 and 10.

In a summer stacked with concerts, festivals, and fairs, Discover Presque Isle Days is a necessary experience for Erie families making the most out of a season winding down. — Aaron Mook
