Erie Ale Works to Hold Annual Festivus

Come celebrate with the rest of us at Erie Ale Works.

Sunday, Dec. 23

Need a break from the commercial and religious aspects of the holiday season? Come celebrate Festivus with the rest of us at Erie Ale Works.

The holiday, based on one celebrated in an episode of Seinfeld, features an aluminum Festivus pole, an airing of grievances (which may or may not end up with you crying), a modified version of the feats of strength and absolutely no distracting tinsel.

"The show implies that it (the feats of strength) is wrestling, but for liability reasons we can't do that, and the floor wouldn't be comfortable," said Jeff McCullor of Erie Ale Works.

Instead, Erie Ale Works has organized a Seinfeld quiz with prizes for the top three winners. It's advertised as "easier this time."

"If you want something different, especially if you're fans of Seinfeld, you should definitely stop by," McCullor said. "It's a whole lot of fun, and it's different from other holiday celebrations."

The annual celebration started a few years ago, after Erie Ale Works customers asked about a potential holiday celebration. As "big pop culture fans," Festivus seemed like the perfect fit for the business.

Admission is free. Food is available for purchase from The Que Abides. — Tracy Geibel
