Erie County Shifts to Biweekly COVID-19 Updates

According to the PA Department of Health, there have been 21,179 total cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County. Last week, Erie County reported 21,146 cases. According to the PA Department of Health, there have been 42 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County.

This week marked record-low numbers for new COVID-19 cases since September of 2020.

As of Monday, June 14, Erie County will only be providing COVID-19 data updates about new cases and deaths on Monday and Thursdays only. Since March, Erie County has provided daily updates online and via email, accompanied by weekly video conferences – which itself shifted from daily to weekly updates.

Following this, Erie Reader's COVID-19 coverage will follow suit, providing updates every Monday as opposed to every Wednesday as they have been arriving since August of 2020. 

According to the PA Department of Health, there are 116,953 fully vaccinated residents in Erie County, a 4,209 rise from last week, now accounting for nearly 43.6% of the entire population (for a 1.2% increase this week). There are currently 18,972 partially vaccinated residents.

Today, Pennsylvania saw 453 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,209,136 cumulative cases and 2,201 cases this week.

So far, there have been 27,514 deaths statewide, with 97 deaths this week (and 158 reported last week).

So far, 11,244,192 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 276,648 occurring last week.

According to the CDC, there have been 311,886,674 vaccines administered in the US. 

The US has a total of 33,303,285 total cases, with 86,911 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 7,856 new cases in the last 24 hours.  

The total number of deaths in the US is 597,594, with 1,969 reported in the last week and 287in the last 24 hours.

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 7,528 positive cases, with 153 deaths (no change). 

McKean County has 3,800 positive cases (up six) and 72 deaths (no change). 

Venango County has 4,088 positive cases (up nine) and 99 deaths (up one). 

Warren County has 2,623 total positive cases (up 14), and 103 deaths (no change).
