Erie County Sees 264 Weekly COVID-19 Cases

One additional death was reported today along with 23 new cases

On Wednesday, May 12, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 23 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with one additional death. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 20,295 total cases and 463 total deaths.  

In the past week, there have been 264 new cases and one death listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there were nearly 38 new cases per day last week, for a decrease of six cases per day compared to last week's data. 

Currently, there are 23 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Erie County, with four requiring ventilators.

So far, 70,936 patients have tested negative for COVID-19 in Erie County, with 926 negative tests this week.

According to the PA Department of Health, there are 97,168 fully vaccinated residents in Erie County, a 6,389 rise from last week, now accounting for over 36.5% of the population (for a 2.8% increase this week). There are currently 21,330 partially vaccinated residents.

Sat 5/8/21 - 58 new cases

Sun 5/9/21 - 17 new cases

Mon 5/10/21 - 19 new cases

Tues 5/11/21 - 44 new cases

Wed 5/12/21 - 23 new cases, one new death

State, Local, and National Statistics

Today, Pennsylvania saw 2,179 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,179,251 cumulative cases and 15,035 cases this week.

So far, there have been 26,659 deaths statewide, with 269 deaths this week (and 261 reported last week).

So far, 9,381,098 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 540,256 in the last week.

According to the CDC, there have been 264,680,844 vaccines administered in the US, with more than 15.1 million this week. 

the US has a total of 32,608,287 total cases, with 257,830 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 34,291 new cases in the last 24 hours.  

The total number of deaths in the US is 580,073, with 4,582 reported in the last week and 643 in the last 24 hours.  

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 7,204 positive cases (up 107 this week), with 149 deaths (up one). 

McKean County has 3,651 positive cases (up 96) and 69 deaths (up one).  

Venango County has 3,891 positive cases (up 84) and 93 deaths (no change). 

Warren County has 2,578 total positive cases (up 26), and 102 deaths (up one).
