Erie County Sees 283 New COVID-19 Cases This Week

43 new cases reported today, with three additional deaths this week

On Wednesday, Mar. 31, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 43 new positive cases of COVID-19. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 18,684 total cases and 452 total deaths.

In the past week, there have been 283 new cases and three deaths listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there were more than 40 new cases per day, a more than 30% increase from last week. 

There have been 65,683 negative tests, with 1,617 this week and 846 last week. 

According to the Erie County Department of Health, there are currently 19 people hospitalized from COVID-19, with four patients requiring the use of a ventilator.

Of the total cases, 52% are female and 48% are male.*

State, Local, and National Statistics 

Today, Pennsylvania saw 4,557 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,024,857 cumulative cases, eclipsing one million on March 25.

So far, there have been 25,093 deaths statewide. 

In the past week, Pennsylvania has seen 217 deaths, with 224 reported last week.

In the last week, Pennsylvania saw 28,240 new positive cases (25,900 last week and 17,991 the week prior). 

So far, 5,154,718 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 644,505 occurring this week. 

In the US, 150,273,292 million vaccines have been administered, with nearly 20 million this week.

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 30,213,759 total cases, with 444,434 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 62,726 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 548,162, with 6,873 reported in the last week and 807 in the last 24 hours. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 6,552 positive cases (up 123  this week), with 143 deaths (up two).

McKean County has 3,106 positive cases (up 71) and 65 deaths (no change). 

Venango County has 3,534 positive cases (up 38) and 90 deaths (up one). 

Warren County has 2,241 total positive cases (up 39), and 99 deaths (up one).
