Erie County Sees 362 New COVID-19 Cases and Nine Deaths this Week

On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 50 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with three new deaths. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 17,074 total cases and 436 total deaths,.

In the past week, there have been 362 new cases and nine deaths. On average, there was an average of more than 51 new cases per day.

There have been 60,794 negative tests, with 1,060 this week and 2,693 last week.

According to the Erie County Department of Health, there are currently 31 people hospitalized from COVID-19 (down three from last week) with two on ventilators (down one).

Since Thursday, Feb. 11, all single-day totals have been below 100. Monday, Feb. 22 was the second-lowest single-day total since Oct. 26, with Feb. 10 being the lowest since then. 

Of the total cases, 53% are female and 47% are male.

Thurs 2/18/21 - 58 new cases, one new death

Fri 2/19/21 - 60 new cases, four new deaths

Sat 2/20/21 - 50 new cases

Sun 2/21/21 - 61 new cases

Mon 2/22/21 - 30 new cases, eight new deaths (over the three-day period)

Tues 2/23/21 - 53 new cases, one new death

Wed 2/24/21 - 50 new cases, three new deaths

Dec. 3 - 9: 53 deaths, 1,643 cases reported

Dec. 10 - 16: 35 deaths, 1,585 cases reported

Dec. 17 - 23: 45 deaths, 1,878 cases reported

Dec. 24 - 30: 46 deaths, 991 cases reported

Dec. 31 - Jan. 6: 37 deaths, 931 cases reported 

Jan. 7 - Jan. 13: 21 deaths, 1,178 cases reported

Jan. 14 - Jan. 20: 42 deaths, 816 cases reported

Jan. 21 - Jan. 27: Four deaths, 681 cases reported

Jan. 28 - Feb. 3: 37 deaths, 677 cases reported

Feb. 4 - Feb. 10: 11 deaths, 437 cases reported 

Feb. 11 - Feb. 17: 14 deaths, 492 cases reported

Feb. 18 - Feb. 24: Nine deaths, 362 cases reported

 

State, Local, and National Statistics 

Today, Pennsylvania saw 2,786 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 920,634 cumulative cases. 

So far, there have been 23,787 deaths statewide. 

In the past week, Pennsylvania has seen 468 deaths, with 472 reported last week.

In the last week, Pennsylvania saw 17,984 new positive cases (22,359 last week and 26,675 the week prior). 

So far, 2,083,277 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 333,328 occurring this week. 

In the US 56,281,827 vaccines have been administered, with more than 11.5 million this week. 

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 27,993,504 total cases, with 393,113 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 55,419 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 498,993, with 12,527 reported in the last week and 1,578 in the last 24 hours. By several totals other than the CDC, the US count has already eclipsed 500,000 deaths.

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 6,307 positive cases (up 89 this week), with 136 deaths (up one this week). 

McKean County has 3,022 positive cases (up 48) and 61 deaths (up one). 

Venango County has 3,317 positive cases (up 55) and 83 deaths (up four). 

Warren County has 2,142 total positive cases (up 30), and 97 deaths (up two).

Ashtabula County's cumulative total is 5,884 positive cases (up 358this week) and 143 deaths (up six this week). 

Chautauqua County has a cumulative total of 7,462 positive cases (up 127) and 137 deaths (up two this week).
