Erie County Sees 386 New COVID-19 Cases This Week

34 new cases were reported today along with six new deaths

On Wednesday, Mar. 3, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 34 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with six new deaths. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 17,074 total cases and 435 total deaths.

In the past week, there have been 386 new cases and five deaths* listed in the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS). On average, there was an average of more than 55 new cases per day.

There have been 60,794 negative tests, with 1,030 this week and 1,060 last week.

According to Dahlkemper, there are currently 27 people hospitalized from COVID-19, with four on ventilators.

Since Thursday, Feb. 11, all single-day totals have been below 100. Sunday, Feb. 28 was the second-lowest single-day total since Oct. 26, with Feb. 10 being the lowest since then. 

Of the total cases, 53% are female and 47% are male. 

*Statistics in NEDSS are readjusted to reflect accuracy, often accounting for a patient's formal place of residency.

Dec. 31 - Jan. 6: 37 deaths, 931 cases reported 

Jan. 7 - Jan. 13: 21 deaths, 1,178 cases reported

Jan. 14 - Jan. 20: 42 deaths, 816 cases reported

Jan. 21 - Jan. 27: Four deaths, 681 cases reported

Jan. 28 - Feb. 3: 37 deaths, 677 cases reported

State, Local, and National Statistics 

Today, Pennsylvania saw 2,577 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 938,411 cumulative cases. 

So far, there have been 24,169 deaths statewide. 

In the past week, Pennsylvania has seen 382 deaths, with 468 reported last week.

In the last week, Pennsylvania saw 17,777 new positive cases (17,984 last week and 22,359 the week prior). 

So far, 2,553,518 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 470,241 occurring this week. 

In the US 56,281,827 vaccines have been administered, with more than 11.5 million this week. 

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 28,456,860 total cases, with 463,356 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 50,935 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 513,122, with 14,129 reported in the last week and 1,283 in the last 24 hours. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 6,412 positive cases (up 105 this week), with 136 deaths (no change this week). 

McKean County has 3,022 positive cases (up 29) and 62 deaths (no change). 

Venango County has 3,376 positive cases (up 59) and 84 deaths (up one). 

Warren County has 2,142 total positive cases (up 47), and 98 deaths (up one).

Chautauqua County has a cumulative total of 7,617 positive cases (up 155) and 138 deaths (up one this week).
