Erie County Sees 492 New COVID-19 Cases and 14 Deaths This Week

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the office of Erie County Executive Kathy Dahlkemper announced 62 new positive cases of COVID-19 along with one new death. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 16,712 total cases and 427 total deaths,.

In the past week, there have been 492 new cases and 14 deaths, with both figures rising from last week. On average, there have been two deaths each day and more than 70 new cases this week.

There have been 59,734 negative tests, with 2,693 this week and 12,92 last week.

According to the Erie County Department of Health, there are currently 34 people hospitalized from COVID-19 (down six from last week) with three on ventilators.

Of the total cases, 53% are female and 47% are male. 

Day-by-day Breakdown

Thurs 2/11/21 - 108 new cases

Fri 2/12/21 - 56 new cases, five new deaths

Sat 2/13/21 - 82 new cases

Sun 2/14/21 - 76 new cases

Mon 2/15/21 - 54 new cases, eight new deaths (over the three-day period)

Tues 2/16/21 - 54 new cases

Wed 2/17/21 - 62 new cases, one new death

Dec. 3 - 9: 53 deaths, 1,643 cases reported

Dec. 10 - 16: 35 deaths, 1,585 cases reported

Dec. 17 - 23: 45 deaths, 1,878 cases reported

Dec. 24 - 30: 46 deaths, 991 cases reported

Dec. 31 - Jan. 6: 37 deaths, 931 cases reported 

Jan. 7 - Jan. 13: 21 deaths, 1,178 cases reported

Jan. 14 - Jan. 20: 42 deaths, 816 cases reported

Jan. 21 - Jan. 27: Four deaths, 681 cases reported

Jan. 28 - Feb. 3: 37 deaths, 677 cases reported

Feb. 4 - Feb. 10: 11 deaths, 437 cases reported 

Feb. 11 - Feb. 17: 14 deaths, 492 cases reported

 

State, Local, and National Statistics 

 

Today, Pennsylvania saw  3,413  additional positive cases reported, for a total of 902,650 cumulative cases. 

So far, there have been 23,319 deaths statewide. 

In this week alone, Pennsylvania has seen 472 deaths, with 790 reported last week.

So far, 1,749,949 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 348,109 occurring this week. 

In the US 56,281,827 vaccines have been administered, with more than 11.5 million this week. 

In the last week, Pennsylvania saw 22,359 new positive cases (26,675  last week and 35,247 the week prior). 

According to the CDC, the US has a total of 27,600,391  total cases, with 569,842 new cases in the last seven days. There have been 57,970 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 486,466, with 20,001 reported in the last week (21,201 last week) and 1,396 in the last 24 hours.

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 6,218 positive cases (up 111 this week), with 135 deaths (up four this week). 

McKean County has 2,974 positive cases (up 59) and 60 deaths. 

Venango County has 3,262 positive cases (up 58) and 79 deaths. 

Warren County has 2,112 total positive cases (up 26), and 95 deaths.

McKean, Venango, and Warren County reported no news deaths this week.

Ashtabula County's cumulative total is 5,526 positive cases (up 343 this week) and 137 deaths (up 57 this week). 

Chautauqua County has a cumulative total of 7,335 positive cases (up 196) and 135 deaths (up seven from last week's data).
