Erie County Sees More than 60 New COVID-19 Cases Per Day

In the last week, there have been 370 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Erie County According to the PA Department of Health, with 370 new cases reported the previous week, and 266 the week prior. Three additional deaths were reported this week by the PA Dept. of Health, bringing the total to 429. According to the Erie County Department of Health, there have been 486 deaths, with no new deaths reported at this time. A similar numerical discrepancy has been standard for the majority of the pandemic.

Over the last seven days, there has been an average of more than 60 cases per day.

Erie County – along with the vast majority of US counties – is classified as having a high rate of transmission. This distinction marks a rate of 100 positive cases per 100,000 people or higher. The CDC recommends all people wear masks indoors in areas with a substantial or high transmission rate. 

Erie County's cumulative total now stands at 22,276 total cases and 426 total deaths based on the PA Department of Health data. 

According to the PA Department of Health, there are 131,266 fully vaccinated residents in Erie County (an increase of 1,229 this week), following the steady trendy of over 1000 full vaccinations per week. This now accounts for nearly 49.3% of the entire population. There are currently 11,141 partially vaccinated residents.

Today, Pennsylvania saw 3,100 additional positive cases reported, for a total of 1,281,199 cumulative cases and 22,287 cases this week.

So far, there have been 28,235 deaths statewide, with 104 deaths this week.

So far, 12,060,033 doses of vaccine have been administered in PA, with 129,607 occurring last week.

According to the CDC, there have are 174,600,017 fully vaccinated people in the US.

The US has a total of 39,279,057 total cases. There have been 153,728 new cases in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of deaths in the US is 638,689, with 1,209  in the last 24 hours. 

As for updates in our nearby counties, Crawford County has 7,931 positive cases (up 163 this week), with 162 deaths (up three). 

McKean County has 3,886 positive cases (up 85) and 75 deaths (no change). 

Venango County has 4,305 positive cases (up 122) and 106 deaths (no change). 

Warren County has 2,764 total positive cases (up 76), and 107 deaths (no change).
