Hacking Away with Betty Machete

Scotty's Martini Lounge hosts sharp, Saturday set

Saturday, July 21

Saturdays at Scotty's are always bound to be entertaining. This week is no different as it prepares to host a variety of punk rock bands. The speakeasy-style martini and cigar lounge will host Betty Machete & Angry Cougars, The Trotts, Maniacal Device and Detroit Red on July 21.

The Columbus-based five-piece Betty Machete & Angry Cougars claims to rock like no one else, and they have the frenetic sound to back up that claim. With fierce buzzsaw guitars and gritty female vocals, the high-energy blend of garage and punk rock is sure to be a potent one. For fellow five-member punk band Maniacal Device, this will be their first show since their recent album release of Analog Revenge on July 13.

Accompanying these two, The Trotts host a similar Erie-grown punk set list. To close the night, "hot and nasty" Detroit Red will play a selection of original garage rock tunes. — Hannah McDonald
