Holiday Village Looks to Downtown for Winter Cheer

Friday, Dec. 7

Let's be frank; Peach Street is a mess this time of year. With the road work, displaced snow mounds, and excessive holiday traffic, shopping along Route 19 has become more hellish than happy.

Working to create a more positive shopping experience and promote local businesses, the Erie Downtown Development Corporation — a privately funded nonprofit organization — has put together Holiday Village for Dec. 7, 14 and 21.

PopLuck, Pulakos Chocolates and Pressed will be ready to fill burning bellies after shoppers have visited Luminary Distilling in Perry Square during the first installment of the event. The second Saturday will feature a plentiful variety of handmade goods by Erie Public Schools. The Cathedral Prep-Villa Maria Spirit will be there alongside Werner Books and Gypsy Jewelry Box. Just four days before Christmas, the final Holiday Village will host Erie Apparel, Pointe Foure Vintage Boutique, Iron Empire Clothing, and Romolo Chocolates.

Live performers will also be playing to keep the mood light and festive. More details in regard to this are yet to be announced.

Vendors and entertainment will be available and entertaining in the square at 5 p.m. each week. — Hannah McDonald
