Monday, Jun. 24

The Sisters of St. Joseph Neighborhood Network (SSJNN) are gearing up for the seventh annual edition of their Little Italy Farmers Market. Check out the markets every Monday throughout summer and into fall. There, guests will be able to pick up fresh produce, as well as bread, meat, and dairy products. Many of the items come directly from the SSJNN Urban Farm grown by the sisters and neighborhood teens. Last year, additional contributors included Fat Hawk Farm, Old Path Farm, Kim's Aquaponics, Strawberry Lane Produce, French Street Farms, Ferko Farm, Blooming Valley Farm, Post Apples, and the Erie School District Gardens.

The market happily accepts food stamps, with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and Farmers Market Nutrition Program Senior Vouchers not only being accepted, but matched to encourage healthy eating. Not content to just be a simple market, but a true community event, the opening day will feature music from Stephen Trohoske and Tony Grey, with Yung Skola opening up the day. — Nick Warren

Mondays Jun. 24 – Sept. 30, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. // 331 W. 18th St. // For more info, call (814) 454-7814 or go to ssjnn.org
