Dec. 17 - 19

Are you still looking for somewhere to go before the Christmas holiday and gather some present ideas too? Well look no further, as Slay the Bay – Erie's first large-scale tattoo convention – will be sure to give you a one-of-a-kind, Christmas experience.

The purpose of the convention is to bring the city together for an all-inclusive artistic event. Slay the Bay will feature nearly 100 artists from across the country. This not only gives the community the opportunity to get tattooed with specialty styles by unique artists but also for the artists to network and make key collaborating relationships. There will also be one exclusive piercer, Samantha Brewer, who along with the tattoo artists will be taking bookings that can be reserved online – accepting walk-in appointments as well.

This weekend-long convention has something for everyone as it is a family-friendly atmosphere. There will be a free kid zone, food and beverages for sale, DJs, and live music. Throughout the weekend you can look forward to seeing First to Eleven, Real Fake Doors, The Impurity, Crush, and Fast Fall performing at the convention. Besides giving the gift of tattoos, there will be several local vendors that will be sure to have something to make the best Christmas present.

This event is made possible by its sponsors' Ink Expressions Tattoo, Gratitude Tattoo Supply, Tattooed Army Pro Team, and Crazy Dayz Tattoo. With the support from these sponsors, the convention is able to hold daily competitions that include a variety of tattooing categories, with the Best in Show receiving a limited edition Bishop Parker El Chapo wand. The Ms. Slay the Bay competition will also be held all weekend long where whoever casts the most votes will be awarded a crown and receive a free tattoo. Also throughout the event, the crowd will be entertained by hostess's Kelly Burkhart and Erie Reader's own Symoné Crockett.

The team that was able to put on this first-of-its-kind event hope that this can lead to bigger and better conventions of its kind. So hop in your sleigh and come deck the halls by participating in this early and exciting Christmas celebration.

11 a.m. - 9 p.m. // $41 for the weekend, $21 for the day, 12 & under are free // Bayfront Convention Center, 1 Sassafras Pier // All Ages // www.slaythebayerie.com
