With recent shutdowns we'll have to get a little creative for happy hour this holiday season. This is definitely the time to keep it classy and beef up our at home cocktail repertoire. We will certainly be celebrating differently this year so get your cocktail shaker and let's set the mood, lighten the mood, or improve your mood! Here's a fruity and festive cocktail that will be sure to set the tone for the holidays. Be sure to check out our local distilleries Altered State, Cart/Horse Disitlling, Erie Distillery, and Luminary Distilling for premium ingredients. Cheers! Don't forget to vote your favorites for Best of Erie 2020! Voting closes Dec. 20th.

The Grinch Cocktail

(Makes one)

What you need:

  • 1 oz Local rum
  • 1 oz Midori
  • 5 oz Pineapple juice
  • 1 splash Lemon-Lime flavored drink such as sprite (I used flavored sparkling water)
  • Simple Syrup
  • Green or red sugar
  • Maraschino cherries
  • Lime wedge

What to do:

  1. Add simple syrup to a plate and set to the side
  2.  Add colored sugar to a plate and set to the side
  3. Roll rim of the glass in the simple syrup, then into the green or red sugar
  4.  Add ice to the glass
  5. In a cocktail shaker add your liquors and pineapple juice
  6.  Pour your mix into your glass
  7. Top off with a splash of lemon-lime flavored drink
  8. Garnish with maraschino cherries (the cherries represent the Grinch's great big heart) and a lime wedge! Enjoy!
