Turn Over a New LEAF With Open Markets

Frontier Park outdoor marketplace returns biweekly through October

All summer long and beyond, the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier (LEAF) will be bright with greenery and the colors of the Open Market. From the months of June to October, LEAF will host the biweekly event on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., inviting attendees to peruse a vibrant assortment of fruits, vegetables, herbs, breads, crafts, art, and more from local vendors.

The edible items at each installment will vary, but often include fresh bread and pastries, fruits and vegetables, oils & vinegars, honey, herbs, plants, coffee, and tea. The market also occasionally offers local craft vendors and art.

"We originally started the market to be just grocery shopping outdoors," said Jamie Keim, LEAF's creative director. "This year we kind of started out with mostly produce, but the rest of the season will be a mix of all different types of vendors, non-food and food."

LEAF is excited to offer more vendors than last year, as well as the ability to provide a wider area to set up and look around with the relaxation of COVID restrictions. The market entrance has also changed and will be directly across from Romolo's on West Eighth Street.

"You can find maybe a craft from a local artist that you've never heard of before," said Keim. "It's just a family friendly event and Frontier Park is at its peak.  It's so beautiful."

The remaining Open Market dates are as follows:

  • July 17th
  • July 31st
  • August 14th
  • August 28th
  • September 11th
  • September 25th
  • October 9th
  • October 23rd
