The popular local documentary series Chronicles recently garnered the WQLN PBS team with an Emmy win, the first of its kind for the station.

If you haven't seen an episode of Chronicles on WQLN PBS, move it straight to the top of your queue. This groundbreaking, local documentary production was the brainchild of former WQLN PBS President Tom New and was previously nominated for 24 regional Emmys over the past two years – but this was the year they brought home the win.

Executive Producer Mike Berlin feels proud of this win for the WQLN PBS team, as well as for the Lake Erie region, "We are incredibly proud of this achievement. Winning an Emmy is a tremendous honor and a reflection of the hard work, passion, and talent of our entire team. Chronicles aims to inform, inspire, and engage our viewers, and this recognition encourages us to continue pushing ourselves deeper into our local history."

The Chronicles series consist of deeply researched documentaries that cover a variety of locally relevant topics – historical events, social/political issues, and personal narratives. The episode that garnered Emmy recognition is titled Bellwether: The Political Evolution of Erie - Our Power and focuses on Erie's reputation within national politics as a "litmus test" for overall political outcomes. The win came in the category of Politics/Government Programming.

Series Producer Tom Fox-Davies (Erie's 40 Under 40 class of 2023) commented, "This award is not just for us but for everyone who has been a part of Chronicles. From our dedicated crew to the individuals who shared their stories with us, this Emmy is a collective victory. We are grateful to WQLN PBS for believing in this project and to our viewers for their continuing support."

If you'd like to watch Chronicles, all episodes can be streamed for free at WQLNChronicles.com

The programming of WQLN PBS is made possible by donations from their beloved sponsors and (as we should all know by now) from viewers like you. If you'd like to make a donation to ensure future programming like Chronicles, you can do so at wqln.org.
