The American Rescue Plan, a $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill passed in March of 2021, allocated The City of Erie a total of $76 million in funding. The city has already determined where it will concentrate those moneys, with the full breakdown as follows:

  • $20.2 million toward economic and community development
  • $15.1 million toward housing
  • $14.1 million toward public safety
  • $12.8 million toward infrastructure
  • $8.2 million toward parks and public spaces
  • $5 million toward city revenue replacement
  • $975,000 toward information technology

The city recently announced the designation of $9.65 million in ARP grants to be awarded from the economic and community development funding pool. Small local business owners and entrepreneurs — especially BIPOC and women — are encouraged to apply for the following:

  • Community Development Initiatives ($2.15 million available)
  • Residential Construction & Development Revolving Loan Fund ($2 million available)
  • ARP Flagship Fund ($1 million available)
  • Small Business Diversity Loans ($1 million available)
  • COVID-19 Debt Refinance/Restructure ($2 million available)
  • Small Business Technical Assistance ($1 million available)
  • Restaurant & Entertainment Industry Relief ($500,000 available)
