Infuse Your Lunch Breaks with Beautiful and Brilliant Music This Summer

Wednesday, Jun. 12

Memorial Day has passed and, it may be hard to believe, summer is here. If nothing else, that means long, languid evenings, and relaxing lunch breaks enjoyed outside. To enhance your culinary experience halfway through the work week, the Highmark Mid-Day Art Break — starting June 12 and running Wednesdays through September 4 at noon (prime lunchtime) — will provide some beautiful sonic entertainment to celebrate the most pleasant season of the year.

Pay what you deem appropriate to enjoy a wide range of local music at the Erie Art Museum. If you're the kind of person who always brings their own lunch, feel free to take it to the space. Should you prefer to treat yourself, the Erie Art Museum Cafe will be serving up delicious delectables to sate your appetite. Bring your own chair, or use one provided at the museum. (And if it's too hot for you outside, sitting inside in the air conditioning of the cafe will still enable you to hear the music.)

As for your creative and sonically-inclined desires, the following performances will occur through September:

June 12: Bruce Morton Wright Chamber Series with the Erie Philharmonic String Quartet — Small ensemble from the Erie Philharmonic performs beautiful, soothing melodies.

June 19: Mambo: You'll be dancing to this group's Latin-infused rock, pop, and jazz.

June 26: The Division Street Machine — North East-based outfit playing funky, blues-infused songs.

July 3: The Rooftop Project Band — A high-energy blend of pop, blues, jazz, and funk.

July 10: Mountain Thyme Ramblers — Twangy, rambling bluegrass with an Irish twist.

July 17: Gem City Jazz Band — Grab your partners and take a spin across the dancefloor to this outfit's blend of big band and swing.

July 24: Brooke Surgener — Open your ears wide for some chill, acoustic-based indie folk and pop.

July 31: The Charles Brown Experience — Erie favorite plays a compelling hip-hop, blues, and funk fusion.

Aug 7: The Breeze Band — Soulful summer R&B for your listening pleasure.

Aug 14: Erie Philharmonic — Enjoy the sophisticated sounds of the Philharmonic and allow the music to carry you away from your office-based duties...at least for the duration of the concert.

Aug 21: Campfire Jams — Jam out with Jeremy Jaeger and friends.

Aug 28: Monica Lewis — Acoustic, chilled-out tunes by a talented singer-songwriter.

September 4: The Honest Mistakes — Close out the season enjoying some upbeat power-pop melodies and evocative lyrics. — Miriam Lamey
