LEAF Fest Showcases Erie's Natural Beauty

A free event where you get to hangout in nature? It's as breezy as the wind between the leaves.

Saturday, Sept. 7

It's sometimes very easy to take everyday things for granted. For instance, do you ever think about nature when you walk outside? How about the trees that surround you, that clean the air and provide shade on a hot summer day? Frontier Park is one of Erie's best places to walk, learn about nature, and just simply appreciate it. That's why it's exciting to announce that Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park (LEAF) is back for its 21st year to celebrate the diverse beauty of over 1,000 trees that call Erie home.

Hannah Rhodes, the new programs manager at LEAF, explains how the Erie community comes together to support this event. "The LEAF Festival grows every year. We have a handful of new and returning groups coming, including the Erie Zoo, The ANNA Shelter, TaraDoodles Face Painting, a dance troupe from Mercyhurst University, and I Am A Planet Kid."

If you've never attended the LEAF Festival before, you will certainly not be disappointed at the number of activities there are to choose from. "For newcomers to the park," Rhodes suggests, "I would recommend stopping by for a handful of fun and free family activities, all set in Frontier Park's beautiful natural space. Frontier Park has over 1,000 trees and plenty of space for small family adventures, and the LEAF Festival just adds to the fun. Staples of the Fest include free face painting, arts and crafts, and interactive nature education experiences."

In addition to all the free activities (admission is also free), the fest will feature raffles and auction prizes that have been generously donated by local shops and businesses in our area. "We so appreciate our donors and are excited to be working with such generous groups in the Erie community. As far as raffle opportunities and prizes go this year, attendees will just have to come see for themselves what we've put together this time around," exclaims Rhodes.
