Raise Bones at the Film Society of NWPA's 'A Nightmare on State Street'

Friday, Oct. 26th

Just in time for the spooky season, the Film Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania returns to the Bourbon Barrel for their annual Halloween bash. Guests are encouraged to take advantage of drink specials, a costume contest (with prizes going to Best Single, Best Couple, Best Group, and Best Movie-Themed), and a photo booth throughout the night. John C. Lyons, Executive Director of the Film Society of NWPA, went into detail about the success they experienced at last year's fundraiser.

"At last year's event, we raised funds to buy a great big screen and created a new screening venue at the Bourbon Barrel, [at] which several filmmakers have already hosted their own events to showcase their work," said Lyons. "We want to make our artists more accessible and give them more opportunities." Lyons went on to note film as an up-and-coming industry in Erie.

A VIP ticket is also available, providing access to a mysterious "basement kill room" (as well as balcony and couch areas), specialty Beetlejuice and Bloodshot cocktails from the Mad Scientist bar, as well as free entry into the night's bull-riding competition, making for an unforgettable fright-raiser. — Aaron Mook
